The Joys of Summer

With all of the brilliant flowers popping up this time of year I couldn't resist putting together a cheerful summertime bouquet. Using garden roses, coral colored Iceland Poppies, fuchsias, and both the flower and the succulent head of Hens and Chicks. Say hello to summer!

Summer

Ah, the exciting, hectic and ultimately exhausting marathon of the summer road trip.

When I was younger it was a two week trip to the lake. My father would reprove his skill at packing the car so everything from suitcases to a life-size inflatable crocodile would not only fit, it would not budge while he was driving. He could have taught a master class on the subject. Still, no amount of good packing can stop potty breaks, a car sick seven year old, kids fighting in the back seat or the smell of cousin Geoffry's foot odor wafting through the air. With the fourth of July weekend at our doorstep I wish you safe travels where ever you go and great memories for years to come. Have a great weekend everyone!

To cha cha for words, is it just me or does this typewriter remind you of those exquisite high heel shoes, you know the ones with a with red soles, made by Christian Louboutin? This style 3 1/2-row Monarch Pioneer was made for only four months, from October, 1937 to Jan, 1938. Notice that the "O" is to be used in place of zero when typing expense reports for shoe shopping at Bergdof Goodman and Barneys. Well, a girl can dream can't she?

Good Morning!

Could you imagine this face greeting you every morning? I sure could, but then again I happen to have a bit of a soft spot for Frenchies. If Joe didn't think they looked like bat-dogs we could very well have ended up with an adorable Frenchie instead of our beloved Blue. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change Blue for the world, but Frenchies are pretty darn cute... even if they are part bat-dog.
