The Art of Fun

clockwise from the top left: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

There were so many charming album covers created in the 50's and 60's. It seems rather sad that most of them are collecting dust up in the attic or sitting lonely and unloved on a shelf. Even if you are not the record collecting type, why not use a whimsical cover as artwork in a child's room? Albums are surprisingly inexpensive these days, and with so many available there is bound to be one to fit every taste. Ikea even makes some of their Ribba frames to fit vinyl records. Besides, it is never too late to share the greatness that is Huckleberry Hound or Yogi Bear with younger generations.

Just Peachy

j

i
I am longing to sneak away from my work today and go play in the garden. It is such a beautiful day that it doesn't seem right to have to stay indoors. I envy our cat who is currently sleeping on his back like an otter, blissfully enjoying the sunshine. With a little detour from my to-do list I visited Sunset magazine's website this morning and saw these beautiful images of peach colored blooms... swoon! It never ceases to amazing me how many wonderful plants there are available in garden shops these days.

Have you visited Lola's Room yet? It is one of my favorite shops to visit. You should stop by for a little afternoon house call and linger awhile. Cassia Beck's photographs are as refreshing as lemonade and a soft breeze on a warm day. Based in Brighton, Cassia takes such care when creating all of her images. You can see more of her work here.

Would you care for a spot of tea?
I bet there are as many teacups in the world as there are people. Who knows, maybe even more! There has to be a set to fit nearly every personality. Years ago, I found my favorite cup at a thrift store. A single vintage green cup and saucer that looks kind of like a lilly pad. It fits me perfectly. Since I usually have coffee or tea by myself in the morning I have no need for an entire set. So what is your favorite cup?

When a bicycle befriends a stag...

The gracefulness of these handlebars, spiked with a little playful humor from the antler design, is perfect. I first saw these on Design*Sponge and had to find out more about them. They were created from high polished wood and chrome by product designer SungKug Kim in Britain. SungKug has said that this project, "challenges me towards a new dimension of design; adopting more poetic and artistic approaches to an everyday-use product." If you want a set of antlers for your two wheeled chariot visit SungKug Kim's site here.
