Chasing the Sun

Summer is over and fall is here! Up north in Canada and in the mountains of the USA this means snow. The terminal dust has already fallen on the mountain tops, blooms have turned to seed and the days are noticeably shorter. Tho this photo was shot in spring it gives you a taste of the changing seasons. We hiked into Jacques Lake in Jasper National Park, Canada, without having any idea what we would find and were dazzled by the clear waters and mountain reflections. It was very early in the hiking season so most hikes were still covered in snow except for this one, that was the simple means by which we chose it - because it was passable. This was shot as the sun was sinking behind the moutain tops as the chilly evening was coming on. I was completely enthralled with this scene and shot so many images as the sun sank further and further, but this is my favourite one.

Shot on a tripod at f/22, 1/10 sec, ISO 100 on June 3, 2009.
