Early Spring

One of the splendid things about living in a mild climate is my wish for an early spring usually comes true. Today it may be raining but, the spring blooms don't seem to mind. Above are a few fresh poppies, daffodils and freesia from our little yard.

I want to ride my bicycle...

I want to ride my bike! Did you notice the second image above? It is a bicycle head badge, I never knew they had a name for those things. I always wanted a vintage bicycle with a tan leather seat, tons of shiny spokes and a head badge. The great thing is that I found them all today. Click on the images for a link to some great vintage shops and photographers.

It's good to be loved...

I have the most wonderful Grandmother, all of the flowers in the arrangement above are from her yard. Since I have had a lingering cough for the last three weeks she sent Joe home with an array of beautiful flowers and homemade cornbread to go with my chicken soup. Oh yeah, and enough oranges to last us a month. How friggin' cute is that?! Our house now smells like heirloom roses, freesia and honeysuckle. There is nothing in the world like a dose of Grandmotherly love.

Refreshing

Like a cool breeze just swept by, these photos from Shlomit Ofir's spring line of clothes are so refreshing. I am smitten with the vintage color palette and use of lace details. For more swing by her shop here.

Vintage Straw Handbags

I have a soft spot for vintage straw handbags like these. They remind me of old photos of dreamy vacations to Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta. I found so many lovely ones that I just couldn't decide which not to share. If you are stuck in the office today, take a second to imagine the sound of the surf hitting the shore while we sip our Pina Coladas with those silly little umbrellas in them. I swear, imaginary vacations are the easiest on the budget and you don't have to worry about losing your luggage.

Greetings

Greetings from the California coast. I was so happy to escape the studio the other day and get to watch a sunset with Joe. I often forget that this view is only fifteen minutes from our house. It has been far too long since the last time we took a break from everything and simply watched a sunset. We were even lucky enough to see a few otters and a whale.

Ready...

Grab your picnic basket and let's go! The sun is finally out and I am itchin' to spend a day laying blissfully in the grass. I'll bring the sandwiches if you make some lemonade. We should remember to take some extra bread to feed the ducks at the pond. That way I don't feed them half of my sandwich this time and want a bite of yours.

Little April Showers

For the last few days we have been having little rain showers here in the Bay Area. They must have prompted this song to get stuck in my head this morning. Today I found a Norwegian version that I couldn't resist sharing with you. The picture quality may not be the best but, I think the singers make up for it. Where ever you are, I hope you are warm and dry and have a delightful day.

Freshly Squeezed Please

Oh, spring is here and I am rather giddy about it. Today we celebrated by drinking fresh squeezed orange juice, admiring our daffodil bulbs in bloom and watching the birds flirt with each other in the trees outside. Coy little things aren't they?! I think a bit of spring fever has officially hit our neck of the woods!

All of the oranges we have juiced lately would look very nice in one of these nifty pitcher sets. I think the vintage Blendo set is especially chic. For links please click on the images.

Capturing Spring

Many people seem to prefer one season over the others. Spring reminds me to be happy I'm alive. The other seasons are great in their own ways and I like the change from one to the next but, there is something special about the time between winter and summer.

Spring has those perfect moments that you hope you never forget. That is why I am sharing the work of Bella Luce Photography with you. Natasha's work is breath taking. She manages to capture those small details that seem to last only for a moment.
