Ooo! Fun! I am currently obsessed with Asian soups of all kinds - tom yum, hot & sour, pho... Mmmm, pho! I love pho, but I just don't trust that vegetarian pho in restaurants is actually vegetarian, so I learned how to make it myself. The secret to the broth is star anise, which fills the house with that pungent, beautiful licorice smell that's the hallmark of pho houses.

I love love love your work!

I love to make sour cream chicken enchiladas.. and it's so easy. Just roll cooked shredded chicken with your favorite cheese into a numerous tortillas... I use about 6 for a 9x13 pan. Place filled tortilla in pan, seam side down. Here's the funky part.. sound odd.. but it really is good. Mix a jar of gravy with 3/4 of a 8oz tub of sour cream and pour over top of the enchilladas. Bake on 325 for about 20 mins and you are done!

I love making buttery rolls. I feel like I need all day for it, though. And a clean kitchen.

This winter, I've been loving lentil curry. My husband is a big meat and potatoes guy, so imagine my surprise when he told me that my little old vegitarian lentil curry dish is one of his favorite meals! I serve with basmati rice and a little chopped cilantro sprinkled on top and some garlic naan on the side. So wonderful!

Hey, Farouche, just saw your article on Etsy! Congrats!

As for my favorite dish to make...that is really tough. Creamy chicken and wild rice soup is a great one, though--and a Minnesota standard, so it makes me feel like I'm an in-the-know native. Even though my nieces and nephews won't each it because they think it looks like bugs, I love how the long, black wild rice curls up when it cooks and has that fantastic chew. Tender but still has texture. The soup also has a fair amount of vegetable matter, which I love.

I like to serve the soup with a homemade loaf of crusty-on-top, tender-on-the-inside European peasant bread. Great for dipping in the soup...or olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We just tear pieces off and dunk them. The house smells wonderful from baking and cooking, too!

My favorite dish is a vegan one called Stuffed Shells. It's past tubes filled with delicious tofu "ricotta" and spices, topped with marinara and faux meat crumbles. So delicious and indulgent, but lower in fat and easy on the conscience :)

Chocolate cherry cake. Moist, with extra fudge frosting. Creamy vanilla ice cream. White and blue ceramic bowls. Cold spoons. Just the two of us. Me in dad’s pink La-Z-Boy, rocking. You on the couch, knees curled up, feet to the side. Red Subway shirt and black pants. Clink, clink, clinking … spoons on the bowls. Mmmmmmmmms. Laughter. Chocolate covered teeth smiles.

One morning my senior year of high school I awoke to find my mom had made me chocolate cherry cake with ice cream for breakfast. It's my favorite memory, my favorite breakfast, and my favorite recipe to bake!

My fav dish to cook is Chicken Velvet Soup! As a little girl, my mother would take me to the LS Ayres Tea room in Downtown Indianapolis. She would make me behave...and remind me that it was a special treat to go there, as my grandmother and great-grandmother had also eaten there on "fancy" occasions. This year, I had a delightful day with my own little girl at the Tea Room. I was once again reminded how the Chicken Velvet Soup was so important to the women of my family. We now make it at home, and we feel so important when we eat it!

I love to make confetti pepperoni soup. It's one dish all 6 members of my family will eat, without complaints. I throw in beets, cabbage or spinach, carrots, celery and onions. And they like it so much, they don't notice the veggies they won't normally eat. I make bread to go with it, it's a happy night!
What a fun giveaway, they would look so good in my kitchen.

My favorite dish to make is pasta and prawns - one of the first dishes I learned how to make when I was on my own - my mom always made it with tiny little shell pasta and I won't make it any other way. It's great with fresh sourdough bread (my dad is a baker in San Francisco so grew up on the stuff).

Mmm my favorite dish is Honey Lime Enchiladas. I found the recipe at The Sister's Cafe then tweaked it to my liking. It's my go-to dish to make for company and I've never gotten anything but rave reviews on it. It's so delicious that I am fairly confident I will never need to hunt for another enchilada recipe again.

I think I could eat chili every day and not get sick of it. I am a vegetarian, mind you, so there is no meat (or fake meat--it grosses me out) but it is loaded with kidney, black and garbanzo beans. Best when paired with cornbread!
When we're feeling indulgent and not too concerned about our cholesterol my husband LOVES when I make creme brulee!

I LOVE making twice-baked potatoes and meatloaf. It is a dish from my childhood that I appreciate SO much more now that I know how long it takes to make. My sister made it even better by adding cheese to the meatloaf and making several mini loafs as to one huge one. Makes packing them for lunch a breeze.

I'm not really into cooking but I love to bake. My favorite recipe is for Red Velvet Cake. I make the cake and icing from scratch using a recipe that was passed on to me from my favorite aunt. It is a lot of work and you can only make it successfully on non-rainy days (not kidding) but it is so worth it.

The first place I ever cooked professionally was a little asian restaurant owned by this fun/hip young couple. They had this great recipie for roasted red pepper and shrimp dumplings. We hand rolled them ourselves and they were a big hit! It soon became my standard "lets have someone over for dinner" go-to meal.

my hubs used to sing that all the time to me! I make awesome breads -- quick bread, yeast bread, pancakes, you name it. Favorite dish to make (and eat) would be lasagna in the style that my Italian sister-in-law taught me. with my bread, of course.

One of my favorites is a pot roast with 1 cream of mushroom soup, one pack dry onion soup mix and 1 can stewed tomatoes, mix it all together and cook in a crock pot. No prep, no sweat and it falls apart when cut, add red mashed potatoes with sour cream and cream cheese and your in heaven. Especially on these cold nights in the midwest.

PS. I received my "happy happy" from you and stopped by your store to look at this prints as my next purchase.

keeping my fingers crossed!!

One of my favorite dishes to make is Ethiopian Tomato Lentil Stew. I can make it using pantry ingredient (canned diced tomatoes, dry lentils, onions and garlic!) plus it's spicy without being overwhelming. I love making it for potlucks, it tastes like a complicated dish but it's really easy to just throw together. Make it with some biscuits or a side of rice and it's perfect! :)

Ooooh!!! My favorite dish is lasagna! My grandmother taught my younger sister and I how to make it when we were 8 & 10, and we've been making it ever since! The most recent recipe I've used is the one out of Pioneer Woman's Book. It is SUPER tasty!

There is nothing that gives me more joy than making a batch of my Grandmother's homemade spaghetti sauce...even though we are German we can masquerade as Italians when this sauce is prepared, all day as your insides jump for joy! I am the only one my Grandmother passed the recipe to so I feel her presence guide me when I make it, when she passed in 2004 she had made a pot of Spaghetti at my Mom's and we had froze some of it, after the funeral we all fought over that last pot of heaven!Love&miss you Gmom!

I love turkey!!!! I just get tired of it after awhile!!! So when I make a turkey, we have one meal of plain turkey, then I make turkey stroganoff. Very simple to make and the best part is that it freezes very very well!!!! All I do is make up any type of noodles (we like bow tie) Then in another pan warm spagetti sauce, mushrooms, turkey, onions, peppers, and some italian seasoning. Once everything is nice and hot, I then add some sour cream to the sauce. Let it cook alittle longer, then mix the sauce and noodles together. Everyone in this house loves it!!!

pie, pie, and pie! With homemade crust, of course. When under a strict timeline, yes, this can be stressful. BUT, when you can savor the moment, boy is it a moment. Flaky crust, sublime filling, often from the bounty of the season, and the 'retro,' homey feel to boot. It's an art, and the kiddos love joining in. (BTW, _Love_ the prints. Gorgeous!)

How do I pick just one dish? I make a chocolate cake for husband's birthday that's to die for: three layers, with an icing that's akin to the ganache inside a truffle. You basically take heavy cream and heat it, pour it over chocolate to melt, and then stir over ice to cool. Then when it's spreadable, ice away! We savor every last piece of it.

My favoritestestest soup to make in the whole wide world will make your tummy sigh with happiness and your heart stop from all the rich deliciousness! It involves a blender, cream, soft swiss cheese (I prefer laughing cow) and some boiled veggies:
a potato (skinned)
an onion (also skinned)
a green pepper (not spicy but peppery)
Some zucchineees (2-3, don't have to be skinned)
.......hm...
and I think that's it...either way, boil veggies until soft, combine with cheese in blender, add cream until soup is wonderfully thick and well...creamy! Some salt and freshly ground pepper make this an awesomely wonderful winter soup. Yummy! When I spent some time studying abroad in Spain, this was a favorite dish of my host mom. It was so good I asked her to give me the recipe and was one of the first things I made for my then-boyfriend-now-fiancee upon my return home. I like to think some of its tastiness was involved in the "now-fiancee" part of that label. Who'd wanna pass up a lady that can make something that amazing? :)
